Breaking Taboos: Embracing Menstrual Health and Empowerment

Menstruation, a natural biological process experienced by billions of women worldwide, remains shrouded in societal stigma and taboos. In many parts of the world, including Sri Lanka, menstruation is considered a taboo subject, often leading to limited access to menstrual hygiene products and inhibiting open conversations about menstrual health.

At Free to Flow, we believe it’s time to break these barriers and foster a culture of empowerment and understanding surrounding menstruation. Our mission goes beyond providing sanitary napkins; we aim to start a conversation, educate, and empower women to embrace their menstrual health.

Challenging the Stigma

The stigma attached to menstruation has led to misinformation, shame, and exclusion. Many women and girls face challenges accessing menstrual hygiene products due to financial constraints or societal norms. This hinders their ability to manage their periods hygienically and with dignity.

Through our initiatives, we are working diligently to challenge these stigmas. We conduct educational workshops, engaging discussions, and awareness campaigns to break the silence around menstruation. By providing accurate information and fostering understanding, we empower women to embrace their bodies and periods without shame.

Empowerment Through Education

Education plays a pivotal role in empowering women. Our programs focus not only on distributing sanitary napkins but also on educating women and girls about menstrual health. Knowledge is power, and by understanding their bodies and menstrual cycles, women gain the confidence to manage their periods effectively.

The Power of Your Support

Your support is integral to our cause. Every contribution helps us reach more women and girls in need, providing them with access to menstrual hygiene products and educational resources. Together, we can dismantle the barriers surrounding menstruation and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.

Join the Movement

We invite you to join our movement in normalizing menstrual health conversations, eradicating period poverty, and empowering women across Sri Lanka. Together, let’s break the taboos and create a future where menstruation is met with understanding, support, and dignity.

Thank you for being a part of Free to Flow and supporting menstrual health empowerment.
